Intertek Metoc joins International Cable Protection Committee to support safe and sustainable submarine cable development

Farnham, UK: Intertek, a leading Total Quality Assurance provider to industries worldwide, has joined the International Cable Protection Committee (ICPC), contributing vital offshore survey and installation expertise that helps ensure safe and sustainable submarine cable infrastructure and activities.
ICPC was founded in 1958, and its 255+ members include governmental administrations and commercial companies that own or operate submarine telecommunications or power cables, as well as other companies that have an interest in the submarine cable industry—including most of the world’s major cable system owners and cable ship operators.
Intertek Metoc’s extensive experience in offshore survey and cable installation aligns with and supports ICPC’s vision: a global network of reliable and resilient submarine cables that coexist with the marine environment. Through its ICPC membership, Intertek Metoc will contribute technical and environmental expertise to industry forums focused on protecting critical subsea infrastructure and promoting best practice across the submarine cable sector.
Surveys are critical throughout the lifecycle of marine infrastructure development projects, from early site characterisation and seabed investigations surveys through installation, inspection and long-term asset management. These activities support safe and optimal asset operations, informed engineering decisions regulatory compliance, and minimal environmental impact.
